It's that dreaded time of year again. The time when we begrudgingly gather a stack of statements, dust off our calculators, and cross our fingers for good luck. It's tax season.

Liberty Tax Service in Decorah is doing its part to not only remind us it's tax time, but help us have some fun along the way. Each year Liberty Tax Service enlists the help of Lady Liberty herself  to smile, wave, and attract customers to their office located at 1014 South Mill Street.

Branch Owner Mike Ellingson says the advertizing tool is very effective. Every year he and other Liberty Tax Service employees don the costume during tax season to smile and wave as people pass by. Ellingson says it's a recommended marketing tool that really works.

When you drive by the office this year, you may notice a younger version of Lady Liberty. Decorah Middle School 8th grade student Keely Hermanson is volunteering after school to raise money for an upcoming school trip to Washington, D.C.

Liberty Tax Service specializes in the preparation of tax returns for individuals and small businesses. It is the third largest tax preparation franchise in the United States and the company is known nationally for their unique marketing tool of wavers dressed as the Statue of Liberty. The Liberty website says, "Creating an atmosphere of making taxes fun is paramount for making our customers feel welcome and our franchises successful."
