A development proposed for the east end of Water Street will not be built.
Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird announced Monday night that the backers of "Water Street Flats," an apartment complex proposed for the Farmers Win Coop property on the east end of Water Street, have said they will not proceed with the project.
The developers had wanted to build a low-income housing apartment on the property, but Bird said they could not reach an agreement with state officials on the rent structure for the property. As a result, the developers have withdrawn their request for assistance from the city in making the project a reality.
