Decorah High School has named Paul Strand as the recipient of the Norman C. Bradish Scholarship for the 2016-17 school year.
Norman Bradish created a scholarship to be awarded to a male graduate of Decorah High School who possesses high academic ability and curiosity, is liked by peers and adults, and displays high standards of character. The recipient must agree to attend a non-religiously-affiliated college outside the state of Iowa. The student must remain unmarried until finishing his studies.
Strand will attend the University of Wisconsin, where he will major in Biology with plans to study medicine. He has been active in Decorah High School and the community. He has lettered in football, soccer, and speech and drama. He served as captain of the football team and received Academic All-State Honors as well. In speech and drama, Paul was recognized for being an All-State participant in One-Act Play. In addition, he is a member of National Honor Society and D-Club.
Paul is a regular volunteer for school activities, for Decorah Parks and Recreation Office activities, and Thrivent Action Teams.
Paul is the son of David Strand of New Hampton and Paula Strand of Decorah.
