Decorah Public Library offers tax assistance for low to middle income and senior citizens

Posted: Mon, Feb 6, 2017 1:41 PM

Northeast Iowa RSVP Volunteers are providing electronic income tax filing again this year at the Decorah Public Library.

This service is for any low to middle income taxpayers of any age and adults over the age of 60 with no business income. Call 563-277-5186 to schedule an appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Decorah Public Library beginning this Tuesday, February 7th.

RSVP volunteers all have had intense training and are certified through the IRS. Services are not available for anyone required to file a Schedule "C" (if expenses exceed $25,000) or "F" (farm income) or "E" (rental property) for their business. If the counselors feel that your return is not within the AARP scope of service, you may need to seek paid tax assistance.

Last year Northeast Iowa RSVP volunteers served over 500 clients from Allamakee, Howard and Winneshiek counties and filed over 1,000 returns (state and federal returns).
