Decorah HS students do well at State Large Group Speech Contest

26 large group speech entries from Decorah High School have earned Division I ratings at the Northeast State Large Group Speech Contest hosted by Dubuque Senior High School on Saturday.  Around 150 DHS students participated in the contest,

The DHS Varsity team received 20 overall Division I ratings, while the DHS 9th grade team had six.  Speech students are coached by Thomas Houdek, Molly Holkesvik, Carrie Kauffman, Gabe Twedt and Kristen Underwood.

Those groups selected by the judges as outstanding will perform at the All-State Speech Festival Saturday, February 18th, at the Iowa State Center in Ames. Those results will be posted on the IHSSA website (www.ihssa.org) late Monday afternoon.
