December revenues at Winneshiek Medical Center were up sharply

Improved patient revenues in December at Winneshiek Medical Center generated a record gross revenue monthly total of $9.5 million.  These higher revenues were driven by strong outpatient revenues for the month, specifically revenues generated by the Surgery Department along with higher Pharmacy revenues. 

Gross patient revenues for the 2017 fiscal year total $50.8 million, which is 9.6 percent lower than budgeted, or $5.4 million. 

Total Net Operating Revenue for December was $5.1 million, which was higher than last December, but below the budget goal.  Year-to-date net operating revenues are $28.9 million, which are 5 percent below budget.  

For December, Winneshiek Medical Center had a gain from operations of $202,471.  With non-operating revenues of $58,571, December had a Net Gain of $261,042.
 
The medical center's operating margin for the fiscal year so far is 1.4 percent, but the budget calls for a 3.1 percent operating margin.

Year-to-date the Net Gain at the hospital is $934,790, which includes non-operating revenues of $524,083.
