The Indivisible Movement was started by Democratic Party Congressional staffers to help people resist the agendas of President Trump and Congressional Republicans.
There is now a Decorah chapter of the movement.
Some 30 to 40 people gathered earlier this week in Decorah to identify key issues and to begin the work of contacting Congressional representatives and state legislators.
One of the organizers of the group, Steve McCargar, said, "The core objectiive of March Where You Live is to force members of Congress and the Iowa State Legislature to hear citizens' concerns about national and state issues. Members of the group are committed to showing up at town halls and other public events to confront racist, authoritarian, environmentally destructive and corrupt policies being proposed by Republican legislators. Local activists intend to defend existing laws and governmental policies which help everyday Americans get health care and other important protections which governments at all levels provide."
Group members plan to attend a listening post held by State Senator Michael Breitbach at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, February 18th at Decorah City Hall.
The group also plans to hold a monthly meeting at 113 East Water Street in Decorah. The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 28th.
March Where You Live is open to anyone in Northeast Iowa who is concerned about the direction of our politics. For more information contact: indivisibleneiowa@gmail.com
