Luther College President Paula Carlson has written a letter to faculty, staff and students in the wake of President Trump's executive order banning travel from seven Middle East countries for 90 days.
"The executive order has caused stress and uncertainty for our students directly affected by the order and for members of our community who care deeply for them and others affected by the order," said Carlson.
Six Luther College students come from the countries named in the executive order. However, all six of the students are currently in the United States.
Carlson's letter says Luther will continue to monitor the situation and to offer support and assistance to those affected. "At Luther, we are both a close-knit community and a global community. Our mission reminds us that we are "people of all backgrounds" and that we are called to "care for all God's people." These values shape our community and guide us now, as always," said Carlson.
