decorahnews.com files Open Meetings Law violation complaint with State of Iowa

A complaint has been filed by decorahnews.com with the Iowa Public Information Board over the January 13th City of Decorah Personnel Committee meeting which discussed Decorah Fire Department staffing.

The complaint claims that the city was in violation of Iowa's Open Meetings Law when it failed to give notice to Decorah news media about the meeting, posting a notice only on the bulletin board in the entrance to City Hall.

The investigation into the complaint by decorahnews.com has already begun, with decorahnews.com submitting supporting evidence and with the IPIB sending a letter to the City of Decorah, asking the city for its response.
