The Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking for volunteers

Posted: Mon, Jan 23, 2017 10:10 AM

The Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking tourism hosts to provide volunteer support and assistance to guests visiting Decorah and Winneshiek County.

Volunteers help visitors who call or stop by the Visitor Center on Water Street. They answer questions regarding lodging, restaurants and attractions, provide directions, and utilize available resources -- including the county visitor guide, reference guides, business brochures, websites and the calendar of event listings.

The Visitor Center is open seven days a week -- Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. -  4:00 p.m.; and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. -  4:00 p.m. The Visitor Center is closed just four days a year -- New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau hopes to first expand the number of volunteers to staff the Visitors Center on Saturdays and Sundays. From there, they will experiment with adding additional Visitor Center hours, possibly including Thursday and Friday evenings.

For membership information or questions about volunteering at the Visitor Center, contact the Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 563-382-2023 or email the WCCVB director Charlene Selbee at director@visitdecorah.com.
