Letter to the Editor: "Don't cut the Fire Department staff"

(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Richard Valley of Decorah):

It's amazing to me that our FIRE PROTECTION is put at RISK as the City Council RAISES their own salaries. Did the raise necessitate the fire department cut?? Judgement is the issue!!

I am very disappointed in the renewed attack on staffing the fire department with minimal staff 24 hours a day. How does that cost compare to cost of the raises in salary for the city council and mayor?

If we can't afford this fire department staffing cost, the raises for the council and the mayor should be rescinded immediately. This is my opinion, and I promise I vote in every election...and not for this poor judgement.
