First reading approved of pay raises for Decorah Mayor and City Council

Pay raises for the Decorah mayor and Decorah City Council members in 2018 could be approved as soon as the end of February.

The Decorah City Council Tuesday night approved the first reading of an ordinance that would raise the mayor's salary to $400 a month and city council member's salary to $50 a meeting.

The vote was 5-2, with Charles Lore and Randy Schissel dissenting.
