First baby of the year at Winneshiek Medical Center announced

The first birth of 2017 at Winneshiek Medical Center was a baby girl born to a Decorah couple.

The hospital says Hadley Jewel Gronna was born at 2:41 p.m. Monday, January 2nd, weighing nine pounds and one ounce and measuring 21 inches.

She was delivered by Scott Bierman, M.D. and Matthew Thompson, D.O., both of Gundersen Health System.

Hadley's parents are Laura and Ryan Gronna of Decorah and her big sister is Maya.

The family received gifts worth more than $500 from 24 Decorah businesses and organizations.
