WMC offers a free diabetes information group each month

Posted: Fri, Jan 6, 2017 9:18 AM

The Winneshiek Medical Center is offering a Diabetes Information Group for anyone interested in learning more about living with pre-diabetes and diabetes. The group will discuss many topics including stress management, diabetes medication, food label reading, healthy eating habits and understanding blood test results.

Decorah resident and WMC Diabetes Information Group attender Stan Townswick was diagnosed with diabetes over ten years ago. He says, "When I first found out I had diabetes, I knew my life and eating habits needed to change. The information group offered by Winneshiek Medical Center continues to educate me on the importance of healthy eating habits…these professionals really put it together nicely and cover a wide range of topics."

The WMC Diabetes Information Group meetings are free of charge and open to everyone. The group will meet the second Monday of every month from 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. in the hospital's lower level conference rooms. The first meeting of 2017 will be on Monday evening.

The WMC Diabetes Information Group is hosted by Jean Irvin, diabetes education coordinator and registered nurse, Angie Kerndt, registered dietitian, and Joetta Redlin, director of Nutrition Services and registered dietitian.
