Sheriff's deputies respond to accident, make two arrests

A Cresco teenager had a bad start to her 2017.  The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office was called to Old Stage Road near Glenville Road at 12:04 a.m. on January 1st.  17-year-old Maria Lievano Hernandez of Cresco was driving on Old Stage Road when she encountered a larger truck heading east on Old Stage Road that was on or near the center line.  She compensated by moving over towards the shoulder, but was pulled into the north ditch, where her vehicle rolled numerous times, causing $18,000 in damages.  She was not injured, however.

Also over the weekend, deputies arrested two people on separate warrants for probation violations.  39-year-old Steven Anderson of Fort Atkinson was arrested for failure to appear on a charge of drug possession, while 23-year-old Karlie Marlow was arrested for a probation violation.  Both were taken to the Winneshiek County Jail.
