Decorah FFA student earns a scholarship at beef competition

A Decorah FFA member, Elizabeth Smith, her partner from the Oelwein FFA, Mary McDonough, will split a $2,250 scholarship after finishing secod at a beef contest.

The two Northeast Iowa FFA members competed as a team at the Beef Scholarship Extravaganza hosted by the Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation on the Iowa State University campus.

26 teams competed at the event, with over 70 high school students from around Iowa involved.  A total of $7,650 in scholarships was awarded.,  Students were challenged at 10 different stations to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.
