Decorah Police respond to four traffic accidents

Decorah Police were kept busy answering reports of accidents on Thursday and Friday.

At around 1:00 Friday, 17-year-old Devin Brevig of Decorah lost control of his truck as he tried to turn onto East Water Street from State Street.  The truck skidded and hit a parked vehicle, causing $3,200 in damages.  Brevig was not ticketed.

Around noon Friday, a car driven by 48-year-old Michelle Albertson of West Union skidded into the rear of a stopped car driven by 35-year-old Darcy Bushman of Decorah on Mechanic Street at Water Street.  The accident caused $2,500 in damages.  Albertson was not ticketed.

Around 11:00 a.m. Friday, 31-year-old Daniel Enyart of Waukon lost control of his van while traveling north on Locust Road.  The van slid off the road and into a ditch, going down a deep embankment.  A passenger in the van, Julio Jochola of Postville, complained of minor injuries and was seen by a medic on the scene.  The van suffered $1,500 in damages.  Enyart was not ticketed.

Around 6:00 p.m. Thursday, 77-year-old Donald Munchow of Luana pulled out from the Walmart parking lot, into the path of a car driven by 82-year-old Karen Anderson of Calmar.  The airbags in Anderson's car deployed and her vehicle spun around completely, ending up in a ditch.  The accident caused $8,600 in damages.  Munchow was ticketed for Failure to Yield the Right of Way upon Entering a Highway.
