Carrie Lee noise issue for neighbors about to be resolved?

On Monday night the Decorah School Board moved a step closer to the potential resolution of neighbor complaints about the HVAC noise from Carrie Lee Elementary School.

The primary complainant over the last couple years has been Steve Runde. Runde, at his own cost, has submitted remediation plans from an engineering company, and indicated he would also cover the cost of remediation. The plans call for the elevation of the fence by Carrie Lee by at least four feet. It also calls for fiberglass sound deadening material to be installed on the walls of Carrie Lee.

The Board instructed Building and Grounds Director Greg Schaller, and Mr. Runde, to submit a more specific plan for potential approval at the next board meeting. There appeared to be no significant concerns regarding the initial plan, specifically regarding any aesthetic issues.
