The United Way of Winneshiek County provides needed services to local residents of all ages and economic status. Their mission is to enrich lives in the Winneshiek County area by providing leadership, advocacy and resources. Nineteen area agencies depend on United Way monies as an integral part of their annual operating budget.
The goal for the United Way of Winneshiek County's 2016 fundraising campaign is $135,000. The annual campaign typically runs from August - November, but this year the start date was pushed back becasue of the severe flooding in the area. Because of this delay, the fundraising campaign is still underway.
Currently the campaign is $20,000 short of its goal. Board president Sara Bulman says they are hoping to reach their goal before the end of the year, but if they don't, the lack of funds will result in cuts to area agencies across the board. Without these budgeted funds, the local agencies won't be able to provide the help that many people depend on.
One hundred percent of the donations received by the United Way of Winneshiek County stay in Winneshiek County and go back into the community. If you would like to make a donation, please contact the United Way of Winneshiek County.
