The Winneshiek Medical Center Board of Trustees has approved proposals to spend more than $1 million on capital equipment projects.
$692,141 will be spent on renovation costs plus equipment to upgrade from computed radiography technology to digital radiography at the medical center.
$222,206 will be spent on buying two new ultrasound machines. The equipment will replace a machine purchased in 2011 and a machine purchased in 2002. The advanced ultrasound technology will provide clearer and precise pictures of the soft tissue structures of the body, organs, vessels, and obstetrics without the use of radiation and will allow physicians to perform precision biopsies and measurements so they can provide the best care, diagnosis and treatment to patients. The 3D/4D ultrasound technology will provide high-tech, high-quality medical images for families to see their unborn child prior to birth.
$105,000 will be spent to complete a Master Facility Plan which will identify space needs at WMC.
