South Winneshiek voters--42 of them--renew the district's PPEL

Posted: Wed, Dec 7, 2016 8:55 AM

In very light turnout on Tuesday, voters in the South Winneshiek School District have agreed to renew the district's Physical Plant and Equipment Levy for another 10 years.

Only 53 people cast ballots in the special election, with 42 voting "yes."

The passage will mean around $173,000 in tax revenues for the school district next school year.  The money, as "Physical Plant and Equipment" implies, will be spend on physical items purchased by the school district.

A similar PPEL election in the Clayton Ridge school district on Tuesday failed to win approval.
