Riverview Center provides valuable resources (part two of a two-part series)

As part of an ongoing effort to provide resources for those affected by sexual assault, the following information highlights the services provided by Riverview Center in Decorah.

Riverview Center provides professional training and education to law enforcement, medical staff, social service agencies in the Decorah area. Their highly trained clinicians provide trauma-level short-term and long-term counseling and specialize in child, adolescent, and adult clients.

The Center provides legal advocacy by serving as a liaison between the survivor and the criminal justice system. They also provide medical advocacy 24-hours a day to mediate interactions between the survivor, emergency room personnel, and law enforcement.

A 24-hour hotline is available for information regarding safe places to go following an assault, arrangements for emergency shelter, medical and legal information, service referrals, and counseling. All hotline volunteers undergo a rigorous training program and background check to ensure that the support they offer is informative, empathetic and safe.​
