In the past year, there were reports of four sexual assaults involving Luther College students. That's why there's been a push to publicize the resources available to people who have been sexually assaulted in the Decorah area.
Riverview Center is a nonprofit agency committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care for individuals affected by sexual assault in Iowa.
Riverview Center's free services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, legal and medical advocacy, long and short-term counseling, transition assistance for domestic and sexual violence survivors, and violence prevention education programs.
Riverview Center is the only agency in the 14 counties of Northeast Iowa providing sexual assault services. All of their services are provided free of charge without regard to sex, race, and socioeconomic status. Their services are available to anyone affected by intimate violence and their non-offending significant others.
One of the goals for the Decorah Riverview Center is to create a support group for the parents of survivors by this coming spring.
