For the second year in a row, Decorah native Nick Nelson has been named the Wisconsin State Golf Association's Amateur Player of the Year.

In announcing the award, the WSGA noted Nelson's victory in July at the Wisconsin State Amateur Championship, at which he shot four under par 276 and won by three strokes.  He was the only golfer in the field to record four rounds of par or better.

The WSGA said Nelson finished with 995 points in its scoring system--85 points better than the runner-up.

Nelson has graduated from Marquette University and has enrolled in Marquette Law School this fall.
