Decorah resident Josh Lee, a senior kicker on the Drake University football team, has been named the 2016 Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Year.

"I couldn't be more excited for Josh. He is a great example of how to live out Drake football, as he is relentless in everything he does whether it's in the classroom, in the weight room, on the practice field or in the game," said Drake head coach Rick Fox.

Lee handled all kicking duties for Drake and was perfect on both field goals (8-of-8) and PATs (27-of-27) during conference play. He also averaged 38.6 yards per punt on 37 punts in PFL action, finishing sixth in punting average. Lee converted all 40 of his PATs in the regular season, was one of just six kickers in the FCS this season to attempt 40 or more PATs and convert all of them. He becomes the sixth Drake player to earn one of the league's major awards.
