New details of Thursday evening stabbing in Freeport

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says a Waterloo man, 48-year-old Bruce Hanson, is in custody on a Class D felony charge of willfully causing bodily injury and four counts of serious misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury.

Hanson was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail shortly before 9:00 Thursday night following an incident in which one person was stabbed.  The wounds were not life-threatening. 

Deputies were called to the Freeport area Thursday night with several reports of a fight occurring.  While the stabbing occurred in Freeport, it was in a different neighborhood than the site of last month's double shooting.

The Sheriff's Office says its investigation is continuing, but the incident itself is over and there is no danger to the public.
