"Supermoon" over Decorah

The "supermoon" appears over Vesterheim in Decorah Monday morning

The distance between the moon and the Earth changes because the orbit of the moon is not a perfect circle.

Monday morning the moon was at its closest to the Earth as it will be over the next 18 years.  That meant the moon appeared 14 percent bigger than normal and was 30 percent brighter than normal.
