There's been a lot written in the wake of Tuesday's presidential election about the voting differences between rural areas and urban areas.
Winneshiek County supervisors met Monday afternoon for the official canvass of votes cast in the county--and even those figures will show two different sets of voting.
In the City of Decorah, 3,565 votes cast ballots for Democrat Hillary Clinton, while 2,355 voters cast ballots for Donald Trump--a plurality of 1,210 votes for Clinton. However, in the five voting precincts outside of Decorah, voters cast 2,977 votes for Trump and 1,673 votes for Clinton--a difference of 1,304 in favor of Trump, which allowed him to carry Winneshiek County.
