It could be a day or two before WMC Board election results are in

Tuesday's ballot showed two openings on the Board of Trustees for Winneshiek Medical Center—but only one candidate, incumbent Roger Huinker. 

Huinker received 8,381 votes on Tuesday.  Write-in candidates received 283 votes for the other opening.

But the question of which write-in candidates had their names entered will have to wait until Thursday or Friday.  County Auditor Ben Steines says his staff has been working on other election clean-up tasks Wednesday, so there won't be any immediate answer.  It will take awhile to review the votes because they have to be counted by hand.

Luther College Economics and Business professor Tim Schweizer announced prior to the election--but too late to get his name on the ballot--that he was willing to be considered for the Winneshiek Medical Center board.
