Decorah house will be moved on Wednesday

If you have plans to do anything in the downtown area on Wednesday, you may want to do it before 9:00 a.m.

The big blue house located behind Decorah Bank & Trust will be moved to a new location on Mechanic Street on Wednesday morning. Mechanic Street near Vernon will be closed for a short time during the relocation.

Aylsworth House Movers of Wadena will be responsible for moving the house. What does it take to move an entire house across town? The moving process begins with lots of communication with the city prior to the moving date to ensure a safe and allowable route for transportation. The next step is to prepare the house and place the moving equipment underneath. After this, the movers must coordinate with the people responsible for the foundation at the new site. Finally, the house is set down and the moving equipment is removed.

The whole process is estimated to take 4-5 hours on Wednesday.
