Both Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies and decorah Police were busy over the weekend.
Sheriff's Deputies arrested 65-year-old Gerald Carlson of Decorah on a charge of Operating While Under the Influence and a separate charge of Child Endangerment. Police say Carlson was traveling on Highway 52 around 4:45 p.m. Friday when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Carlson had two minor children with him. The children sustained minor injuries and Carlson had no injuries. Carlson was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail.
Deputies also ticketed 27-year-old Maxwell Vanvliet of Decorah early Thursday morning after an accident on Quarry Hill Road. Vanvliet was traveling north on Quarry Hill Road when his vehicle left the roadway, went down into a steep embankment and overturned. Vanvliet left the scene of the accident. He was cited for failure to maintain control, failure to report an injury accident and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Decorah Police say they arrested two people Sunday morning on West Main Street. 20-year-old Cody Ritner of Decorah and 18-year-old Michael Jones of Lime Springs were charged with Possession of Marijuana and a separate charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Police also say they arrested a 29-year-old Decorah man, Karl Erz, on Sunday morning on a charge of Public Intoxication.
