Two-vehicle accident causes $10,000 in damages

A Decorah man has been ticketed following a two-vehicle accident at Highway 9 and Short Street.

93-year-old Garsten Hovden has been charged with Failure to Obey at Stop Light after the car he was driving collided with a car driven by 52-year-old Cindy Bruggeman of Rochester.  Police say witnesses told them Hovden was on Short Street, drove through a red light, made a u-turn after crossing into the intersection and headed back on Short Street when he was hit by Bruggeman, who had the green light.

Both drivers were taken to Winneshiek Medical Center for evaluation.
