Flood-kin benefit has raised $20,000 so far

Last week's "Flood-kin" fundraisers to help flooding victims in the Decorah area was a big success.

Flood Relief Week Project Manager Karen Trewin says the group's preliminary estimate is that they raised $20,000, but checks are still coming in and they haven't collected money from all the churches that participated on Sunday.

People can still drop off donations at the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce office on Water Street (make out to NEICAC and put "Winneshiek" in the memo line).

Says Trewin, "We're thrilled with the level of participation and the community spirit that was so evident last week."
