Fall colors are now at their peak

Fall colors in Northeast Iowa are at their peak now, according to the Iowa DNR.

More and more splashes of oranges and reds from the maples are being seen in the tree canopy--about one week later than normal. Aspen are a very showy yellow this year. A lot of the sumac are very vibrant and are at their peak right now.

While most trees are at their peak of fall color, oaks are still green. The DNR says the oaks will lag behind at least a couple weeks and will probably peak toward the end of October.
