The Iowa Transportation Commission has awarded the City of Calmar a $135,037 Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) matching grant to help pay the cost of extending Huber Drive for the Calmar Industrial Park.

Winneshiek County Development, Inc. applied for the grant on behalf of the City of Calmar and Calmar Development.  Huber Drive will provide access to 15.9 acres of the 22-acre Calmar Industrial Park.

WCDI Executive Director Stephanie Fromm said, "Huber Drive will fulfill a critical business park development need for Winneshiek County and the City of Calmar by providing the necessary transportation structure for additional marketable, development-ready sites and provide access to the available acreage within the Industrial Park."

The total investment in the Calmar Industrial Park is expected to cost $831,025.  Other grants will be pursued to help pay for infrastructure and other park amenities.

The anticipated start date for the project is the spring of 2017, with a project completion of late summer 2017.
