Decorah residents Rick and Lori Burras on Tuesday were officially recognized as "Iowa's Tree Farmer of the Year" for 2016.

The Burrases own property on Madison Road.  They have planted oaks, walnuts and other hardwoods on 40 acres behind their house.  They also own property near Highlandville on which they've planted trees.

The two were recognized Tuesday at a Field Day held at their home.  The event brought a large turnout of people who not only wanted to recognize the work done by the Burrases, but to take part in five different programs offered as part of the field day.
