Man involved in incident at Winneshiek County Democratic Party headquarters appears not to have been a registered voter

On Friday, September 30th, Decorah Police received a phone call from the Winneshiek County Democratic Party headquarters on Water Street complaining about a man who had come into the offices and accused staffers of stealing a sign from the side of his truck.

Later, the man reportedly came into the headquarters as staffers were locking up, which caused one staffer to go to the Police Department to complain.  Police investigated and warned the man to stay away from the Democratic headquarters.

In last Friday's story about the incident, our headline described the man as a Republican, based on information from our news sources.  Now it appears the man was NOT a registered Republican--indeed, he might not even be a registered voter of any type.

decorahnews.com continues to work to confirm the name of the man involved.  At this point, however, it does NOT appear he was a Republican.
