The first in a series of "Coffee with a Cop" programs by the Decorah Police Department went well on Friday at Java John's Coffee House in downtown Decorah.
The event attracted 15 or 20 members of the public, who had a chance to visit with half a dozen Decorah police officers. "Coffee with a Cop" is designed to give the public a chance to get to know Decorah's police officers.
Java John's customer Sue Ludeking called the event "a good idea," and Cheryl Stover agreed, saying, "I think it's marvelous."
Emily Hook, who is married to a Decorah police officer, said the event was a good way for the public to get to know police officers, although she pointed out police are already involved in their communities.
Decorah Police Department members say other "Coffee with a Cop" sessions are planned at other Decorah restaurants in the future.
