Clown scares extend to Luther campus

It's not just the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department that is worried
about local "scary clown" sightings.

The Decorah Police Department says it received a call Tuesday from several Luther College students who reported that three people dressed as clowns approached them in the campus area.  The clowns asked the students to go into the woods by the river near the lower campus.  The students refused and left the area.

The news release from the Decorah Police Department concluded, "The police department is aware this is similar to other incidents on a national level where people may have been assaulted, but has no specific reason to believe that is the case here."

Police say people should be aware of their surrounds and should call 9-1-1 in any emergency or contact Decorah Police at 382-3667 in a non-emergency.
