(Randy Haugen of Decorah has sent another e-mail about the "Rump for President" sign on College Drive and Thomas Hansen's response):
Mr Hansen just does not get it about the sign that "had" to be totally destroyed by Democrats. Mr. Hansen is playing a childish game. The Winneshiek County Democratic Party has given him an olive branch to replace the sign at the Democrats expense a classy gesture by them. But Nooooo, Tom wants to teach a lesson on civility while at the same time making sure he gets all of the attention he can for this "huge scandal." My question to Tom and everyone here is, "Who has the most to gain by the painting over the "T?" In this case I do think the Winneshiek County Republican Party Chairman doth protest too much.
(Casey McBride from Decorah e-mails):
"One vandal defaces a sign and the local Republican leadership blames all Democrats. I am not surprised, from their Presidential candidate on down, the Republicans blame entire groups of people for the actions of a few: Mexicans, Muslims, Blacks, and now Democrats. No one has even shown it was a Democrat who did the vandalism."
(Brett Mumford of Decorah sent a follow-up e-mail after reading Thomas Hansen's letter):
"In response to Mr. Hanson and in response to much of anything that's going on in terms of politics this cycle, I am simply ashamed for my country."
