The Folk Art Benefit Auction for Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum gets underway at noon Wednesday and will run for the next two weeks until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19th.
The auction has 38 pieces of one-of-a-kind folk-art by the best artists working in the Norwegian tradition.
Local Decorah-area artists are featured in the auction, as well. Weavers Laura Demuth and Barbara Berg, Hedebosom embroiderer Roger Buhr, carver Jon Hart, carver Rebecca Hanna and Mairi Sessions and Caden Branum, who are students in Vesterheim's "Whittling Klubb for Kids" all have items on the auction.
There will also be rosemaling, weavings, figure carvings, and more. Most of the pieces are donated by the artists.
