It now appears that construction will not start until next spring on a number of major improvements to the Trout Run Park off Highway 9.
Crews had been scheduled to start this month on a new road access to the park, on the parking lots and on the canoe access to the Upper Iowa River. But the flooding over the last five weeks has left the property "a swamp," according to local officials.
While there may be minor preparation work done in the area yet this fall, the Iowa DNR has now moved the completion deadline of the project to June 30th of next year—one month later than previously planned.
