Yes, a substantial amount of rain fell in Winneshiek County in the last week.  But a look at the map created by the National Weather Service Office in La Cross shows how much worse it could have been.

From Tuesday through Friday, Decorah received 2.49 inches of precipitation.  That's a significant amount of rain, but there were areas to the west of Decorah and to the northeast of Decorah that received over 5 inches of rainfall and two areas that received 8 to 10 inches of rainfall.

In the Greene, Iowa area, that rainfall has led to flooding all along the Cedar River.  The Upper Iowa River and Turkey River also had flooding, but more minor than the seirous problems being experienced along the Cedar.

Dry weather is predicted for much of the upcoming week--giving us a chance to dry out from a record-setting wet summer.
