Sheriff's Department is warning of another scam involving "The IRS"

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is warning the public about yet another scam involving someone pretending to be from the IRS.

Deputies say over the past few days the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office has received multiple phone calls from residents who have received calls from a person who says they're with the I.R.S.  The caller then tells the person the I.R.S. has pending lawsuits and possible warrants for their arrest.

Says the Sheriff's Department, "THIS IS A SCAM!  The I.R.S. will not call you; they will contact you by mail.  This is only an attempt to collect personal information from you."
