Decorah's Assistant Police Chief completes city government training

Decorah Assistant Chief of Police David Smutzler has completed the 2015-2016 Municipal Leadership Academy sponsored by the Iowa League of Cities.

The workshop series gives city officials in Iowa a broad-based look at many of the aspects of city governmennt, including city council meeting procedures, city budgeting and economic development.

Over 500 city officials attended parts of the MLA workshops during the Iowa League of Cities conference in Des Moines, but to graduate from the Academy., a city officials needs to attend at least three out of four MLA sessions--which Smutzler did.
