Luther College has released its enrollment figures for the fall semester--and they're not good news for the school.
A total of 2,169 students are enrolled at Luther this fall (1,199 women and 970 men). That's a decrease of 168 students.
However, some of the enrolled students are part-time degree-seeking students or part-time non-degree seeking students. So adjusting for "Full-time Equivalent Enrollment," there are the equivalent of 2,149 full-time students at Luther this fall, compared with 2,310 last fall. That's a decrease of 170 FTE students.
A fair amount of the enrollment decline is in this year's freshman class. Last year there were 623 first year students, while this year's first year student class has 520 members. 203 of those first year students come from Minnesota, while 117 come from Iowa--63 fewer than came from Iowa last year.
879 students at Luther say they are Lutherans, while another 849 say they are Christians. That represents 80 percent of all students.
