Floodwaters are very powerful. That fact was reinforced by August's flooding in Decorah and Freeport.
The waters lifted up cement pads along the Trout Run Creek, as well as entire trees.
Floodwaters also took picnic tables and moved them out of parks in Decorah. City officials say 27 picnic tables were lost--and it will cost over $6,000 to replace them. Four or five missing picnic tables that were lost have now been found--far downstream from where they were. One of the picnic tables was retrieved from behind Wal-Mart, while other picnic tables have been spotted up in the air, stuck in trees.
