The Decorah Police Department says the body of a missing Luther College student has been recovered from the Upper Iowa River.
21-year-old Bjorn Norderhaug was last seen just before 2:00 a.m. Saturday in the downtown Decorah area. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday Decorah Police received a report of a missing person. Decorah Police, aided by Luther College staff, began a missing person investigation.
Around 7:30 a.m. Sunday Decorah Police, the Decorah Fire Department and Luther College staff began searching along the Upper Iowa River.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Norderhaug's body was discovered in the Upper Iowa River outside of Decorah. Rescue crews with the Decorah Fire Department and the Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance were able to recover Norderhaug's body from the river.
Police say they are continuing their investigation into the death.
