Decorah firefighters were called to Decorah High School around 8:00 Friday night.
The fire department received an alarm from Decorah High School for a smoke detector being activated. On arrival, a fire was found in the building near the front, west entrance of the building. It was determined there was a small fire in a classroom in the southwest side of the school.
The fire was first discovered by Decorah Schools personnel and was knocked down with a fire extinguisher. The fire was located in a storage bin. The bin was removed from the building and the building was ventilated. No structural damage was found.
The fire was contained to the storage container with smoke in the southwest area of the building. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire appears to be spontaneous combustion of linen that was placed in the storage container.
