The flood debris collection at the Winneshiek County Recycling Department plant in Freeport has ended.
Winneshiek County Recycling Department Manager Terry Buenzow says hundreds of tons of debris came through the Freeport facility. Where possible, items were recycled, but the rest of the debris was taken to the Winneshiek County Landfill.
The original debris bunker that was made out of cardboard bales has been taken apart. The bales now have been used to block off the collection area until a sweeper can be brought in to give things a deep cleaning.
